Enhanced Commo Rose http://i.imgur.com/uo7pEXo.png
On Biomassed Episode #59 when discussing the 'Tactical Shooter' aspect of Dust 514, Kain Spero mentioned that there was a lot of unused space on the commo rose. He also stated that, for a tactical shooter, that the game placed a -LOT- on voice comms, effectively making them a requirement for any sort of tactical play. I had mentioned that being unable to join a squad in-battle has also severely reduced tactical aspects for players who were not part of a squad before-hand (of which it was pretty unanimous that we all -hate this-).
Someone else mentioned that it might be time to return to forcing players not in a squad -into- a squad when the battle begins, saying that they learned a lot about how the game worked from being forced into squads in Closed Beta. I might not have said it on the episode but I'm in full agreement, if we can't join squads mid-battle.
Ideally, if we were to use that unused space, these are the icons and functions I'd like to see. From top left to bottom: 1) Target Spotted - Squad only command, to be used by squad members. Used to indicate a specific target on TacNET. Works the same as the 'Attack' order used by Squad Leaders, displaying an icon on the target to the entire squad for a limited time. Must be placed on infantry, a vehicle, or installation. No WPs are given out as it is a communication tool only. 2) Need Ammo - Anyone can use this and it will display to the entire team. 3) Need Repairs - Anyone can use this and it will display to the entire team. 4) Need Backup - Anyone can use this and it will display to the entire team.
WP Gains Overhaul
Clone Terminated WP Gain to encourage players to kill the clone and prevent them from being revived. This would teach players a -lot- about the importance of ensuring clone death for competitive game-modes such as Planetary Conquest in which clone counts are a priority.
I'd also see better WP payouts for a few other roles. Stuff like better WP payouts for dedicated pilots who are ferrying players, team-wide Intel WP gains for Active Scanners (it isn't up to par when you consider the WP payouts for other equipment), and bringing back WP gains for repairing vehicles (or the total removal of the 'AXIS' repair tool which is about worthless otherwise).
Bandwidth and Equipment Display
Might be hard to notice what I did here but if you look in the bottom left next to the Armor/Shield HP readout you'll see that there is a Drop Uplink icon and a Bandwidth count added in. This was an idea proposed in this thread. Players need a way to know when they need to refresh their Drop Uplinks, Nanohives, etc if we're really hallmarking Dust 514 as a Tactical Shooter. Nothing more irritating than spending 15 seconds trying to spawn on a Drop Uplink just for it to disappear out of no-where, amiright?
Alternate version that shows how many spawns are left on placed drop-uplinks. If we did it this route we could even attach a 'percentage count' to placed Nanohives for players to know when they're about to run-out and need to be replaced.

Well, yanno. Jaysyn Larrisen on Biomassed brought up the fact that I -did- say that there were a lot of Logi players in the current CPM and I started thinking maybe I wasn't giving them enough credit and maybe I was thinking about everything from an Assault stand-point. Decided to run Logi myself for a bit (since I have Gal Logi and Min Logi at proto, just haven't used them very much) and see what I hated most about it and cross-reference that with what other people were saying.
So, yeah, this was the result.

I dunno, I kinda enjoy it. At least, Minmatar Logi is kinda fun. Gal Logi is just irritating because I feel like I'm being obligated to scan for my team and get little to nothing for it. Cal Logi isn't -bad- as long as your team actually uses your nanohives but it can be frustrating when they don't.
Can't tell you how many times I've had to play charades to tell someone that I don't have repair tool and to use one of the Wiyrkomi Triage Hives I just dropped for them.

Better be careful what you tell us and how bad you want it. Might turn into another fan-fic.
Edit: Kain Spero asked for roses and diamonds, Kujo brought him a Commo Rose.
